I just returned from a 3-day conference in Nashville, Tennessee, held by the International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists. I serve on the Board of Directors for this organization and as a Board member I had many opportunities to interact with treatment providers from across the country. There were many excellent speakers and we all learned so much! I was privileged to present a workshop I call “After the Life Quake- Recovery for Partners of Sex Addicts,” where I described the trauma experienced by partners who are impacted by sex addiction in their relationships. I also presented with my friend and colleague Kent Ernsting on “Partner-Sensitive Couples Intensives,” where we described how we approach working with the recovering couples. I also re-connected with my friend and former colleague/supervisee Emma Schmidt, who is now practicing in Boston. It was a powerful time!
