I am pleased to introduce you to Jeremy Spence who has joined Safe Passages as a Counselor Trainee. He is finishing his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and working toward state licensing as a professional counselor. Jeremy has worked at churches in the Greater Cincinnati area for the past ten years providing help for individuals and families in crisis, and creating mentoring programs for adolescents and their families. Here is more about Jeremy’s journey in his own words.
“My experience showed me the overwhelming need for adolescents, and their families, to have a professional willing and able to come alongside them during difficult times. I also realized there were very few individuals in the community who felt prepared, or were willing to step in when this help was needed. Hence I started on my path to obtain a masters degree and become a professional counselor.”
Though I have considerable experience with teenagers and their families, while working under Dr. Steffens’ supervision, my goal is to help everyone in need of the services provided at Safe Passages. I also hope to continue working with teenagers in our community, especially teenage males, as well as their families who often need someone to stand with them during this tumultuous journey called “adolescents.”
With this in mind, if you know of an adolescent, a family, or an organization serving youth that is in need of counseling services, I can provide assistance in these capacities.
- professional counseling (individual, couples and families)
- group facilitation (teens, parents, adults and families)
- consultations or seminars on the adolescent phase of life
My wife of four years and I have a 9 month-old son and a 4 year-old Lakeland Terrier. When not working or studying I enjoy running and working in the yard – both are very relaxing. I look forward to serving our community and the individuals and families at Safe Passages Counseling.”
